Went to Maya last night and had the Pechuga Adobada...it was fabulous...great flavors and nice dose of spice. Started with the ceviches which were fresh and delicious. Also great Maya margaritas. Took home the beautiful cookbook, which is equally good for noncooks to enjoy the stories, history and photography of Mexico.

The tasting menu was excellent, although they should have told guests that the drinks were extra. The signature dish was very good, especially the dumplings. My ceviche was great and the bread pudding dessert was delicious...ask for it with the cinnamon ice cream though. Very festive experience. Tonight they have mariachis!

Thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu at Maya. Had the ceviche which was quite good and the salmon topped with a pineapple salsa which was excellent. Both were paired with a great sauvignon blanc.

You'll hear the names of several classic, expensive, Midtown Mexicans bandied about, but Maya is far superior to all of them. Chef-owner Richard Sandoval (who hails from Acapulco) established his reputation at Savann, but his talent has really exploded at Maya. He combines faithfully executed Mexican classics (these are harder to find in New York than you might think) with restlessly innovative dishes that challenge the palate. The authentic decorations were custom-made in Mexico.
